Felicitations

1. On the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi, I extend my warm greetings to all ranks of the Regiment and their families. I hope this festival brings prosperity and happiness in the life of all of the members of the families of the SIKH LI fraternity. During the past one year, the Regiment has made commendable progress in various fields. Our contribution in the internal security operations during the year has been extremely praiseworthy. In keeping with our traditions, let us re-dedicate ourselves to the service of the Nation and pledge to live upto our motto "Deg Teg Fateh".

Performance in Operations

2. My compliments for excellent and consistent performance to the battalions deployed on the Line of Control and in Counter Insurgency operational areas. They have conducted extensive operations and have captured large quantities of arms, ammunition and equipment. Their performance speaks volumes of their dedication, devotion to duty and professional competence.

Unit Citations

3. My special commendations to the offrs, JCOs and the OR of the following units for having won the coveted Unit Citations:-
  1. 9 SIKH LI - GOC-in-C (Northern Command)
  2. 49 RR Bn - GOC-in-C (Northern Command)
Raising of 163 Inf Bn (TA) SIKH LI (H&H)

4. On 01 Nov 2005, a new TA Battalion was raised at Fatehgarh (UP), under the command of Col H Bahadur, SM, with SIKH LI being the mother Regiment. It was a pleasure to be associated with the new raising and seeing a new and a confident battalion taking shape. The troops composition is a mixture of Gujjar/Bakarwal/ Muslims and Hindus from J&K. The Bn dply is likely to be spread over 16 Corps, 15 Corps and 14 Corps AOR. The training period is of nine months which incl one month of SF Trg. The first batch of 279 rect from 16 Corps AOR arr on 20 Feb 2006, second batch of 219 rect from 15 Corps AOR arr on 27 Mar 2006 and the third batch from 14 Corps AOR is likely to reach by Apr/May 2006.
